We want to provide an update on the Health Center mass resident testing that occurred late last week. On Wednesday, September 9th, we received notification that 17 Health Center residents tested positive for COVID-19. We have set up a special COVID-19 isolation care unit in our Health Center to care for our residents and are continuing to follow heightened infection control procedures. At this time, there are 14 total active resident cases of the virus, most are asymptomatic, and three are being cared for in the hospital.
We also learned on Wednesday that two individuals who provide care to our residents tested positive for the virus. By way of recap, there are seven active cases of COVID-19 among team members and individuals who provide care to our residents, all of whom are self-isolating at home.
We will be testing all Health Center residents and team members weekly for the foreseeable future to assist with early identification of COVID-19 in our community.
We understand that you have concerns about the current COVID-19 status in our community, and many of you have questions. Please know we continue in our commitment to protect the health and safety of our residents and team members. Our team continues to be proactive in mitigating the risk of further exposure to the virus within our community.
We highly encourage residents to only leave the community for essential needs like groceries or critical medical appointments. Residents and team members are also encouraged to practice social distancing, and we ask that you wear a mask or face covering when you interact with others in public settings. Continued attention to proper hand hygiene, including handwashing and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer, is essential to preventing the spread of the virus. As we have done throughout the last several weeks, we will regularly communicate updates about our efforts to maintain a safe and healthy community.
We appreciate your support and continued adherence to the protocols we have implemented to protect our residents and team members. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact The Waterford management team.
Thank you for your continued support.
